RAY J SIGNS RECORD DEAL: Singer-actor Ray J signs a non-exclusive recording deal with Sanctuary Urban Records Group(SURG), through his own label, KnockOut Entertainment, in Los Angeles. Looking on are his mother-manager Sonja Norwood and Mathew Knowles, president of Sanctuary Urban Records Group.
Ray J also will be featured in BET's new fall lineup next year. "My room and Mathew Knowles represent the most dynamic team with whom any artist could assemble to build a solid recording career," says Ray J, whose new CD under the pact is due in March 2005. Knowles is the driving force behind hit group Destiny's Child and is Beyonce Knowles' father. Norwood also manages Ray J's sister, famed singer-actress Brandy.
