An EBONY exclusive! Michael Jackson breaks his silence in December issue

Jet, Nov 19, 2007 by Marti Parham

In a special collector's edition of EBONY, singer Michael Jackson gives his first U.S. interview and cover story in 10 years, revealing his thoughts about God, being a music icon, his creative process, family and is his plans for the future.

Twenty-five years ago this month, Jackson debuted Thriller, his musical masterpiece, which went on to become the best-selling album of all time--selling more than 104 million copies across the globe and 54 million in the United States.

Since then, the artist has affected the music world in ways that will be remembered long after he is gone.

"I always want to do music that influences and inspires each generation," says Jackson, who hasn't spoken publicly since his 2005 trial and acquittal. "Let's face it, who wants mortality?"

In "Michael: The Thrill is Back" and "Q&A: Michael Jackson In His Own Words," the artist speaks candidly about his history-making accomplishment and sets the record straight about ever-present myths and rumors.

Also in this issue, EBONY aims to put an end to the misconceptions that surround the continent of Africa. The December EBONY is the first issue in a yearlong examination that will open the dialogue about the true conditions of the continent. Read "The Africa You Don't Know" to learn something new about the Motherland.

In addition, the December EBONY presents the "Holiday Gift Guide: Affordable Goodies ALL Under $100."
