Takes New York By Storm

When it comes to fashion, no place knows it better than New York. But when EBONY Fashion Fair's Fashion Sensation recently came to the Big Apple, the fashion capital had to take notes!

Stylish New Yorkers did some serious double takes when the high-stepping troupe of models showcased the latest in fashion at the Grand Ballroom in New York's Hilton Hotel & Towers.

You name it and Fashion Sensation had it for both women and men. If you were looking for an outfit to take on the town, a casual design to relax with a friend or a creation to sit by the pool, EBONY Fashion Fair had you covered.

French designer Issey Miyake is known for his innovative creations. His fashions did nothing short of knocking the audience off its feet. His cute balloon dresses, bubble two-piece suits and clown-inspired plaid outfits with inflatable sleeves had the audience enraptured.

EBONY Fashion Fair knows that everyone loves leathers and Fashion Sensation made sure there was plenty of them. A black sexy, fitted outfit by Thierry Mugler, red maxi-length leather coat by Claude Montana, a hot pink and black ensemble by Carolina Herrera and a leather wrap by Mila Schon won the audience over big time. Male patrons also got a glimpse of the hottest in leather with designs by Mugler.

Velvet was well-represented on the runway. A multicolored velvet gown with a

fringed stole and a matching handbag by Carven Couture, Paris, and a black velvet gown with pink insets by Quinton de Alexander, Chicago, were only some of the beautiful creations showcased this year.

The show, celebrating its 43rd year, benefited the New York Urban League and was sponsored by the New York Urban League & Friends of Distinction.
