David Belafonte, Son Of Legendary Performer Harry Belafonte, Weds Swedish Model In New York

David Michael Belafonte, the son of acclaimed performer Harry Belafonte, recently married Malena KnopfMathiesen at the Bryant Park Grill in New York.
David N. Dinkins, the former mayor of New York, officiated the ceremony.
David Belafonte, 43, who earned a certificate in sound engineering from the Institute of Audio Research in Manhattan, is the son of Harry Belafonte and Julie Belafonte, a former principal dancer with the Katherine Dunham Dance Company. David serves as the vice president of Belafonte Enterprises, a New York company founded by his father which encompasses Niger Records, three music publishing units and Harbel Productions, a television and film company.
Mathiesen, 28, is a fashion model and the host of "The Malena Mathiesen Special," a celebrity profile program shown four times a year on Scandinavian TV. Her mother, Irmgard Mathiesen of Jyderup, Denmark, is a retired recorder soloist who was a professor of music at the Danish Royal Conservatory in Copenhagen. The bride's father, the late Aksel H. Mathiesen, was a composer and conductor with Concentus Musicus of Denmark, an ensemble based in Copenhagen.
