COMEDY AWARD: Comedienne-actress Whoopi Goldberg accepts the 2001 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor during the taping of On Stage at the Kennedy Center: The Mark Twain Prize at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Goldberg, the first woman to earn the honor, is the fourth recipient of the prize, joining Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters and Carl Reiner.

The event will air Nov. 21 on PBS-TV.
