1951 JET 2001: 50th anniversary celebration

During the month of November, Black America's No. 1 weekly newsmagazine is celebrating its 50th anniversary with special commemorative issues each week highlighting a facet of tire Black experience in America from 1951 --JET'S inaugural year--to today.
This week's issue takes readers on a pictorial journey through 50 years of Black news featuring Black America's Memorable Moments: 1951-2001 with historic photos of record, many of which first appeared in tire pages of JET.
Succeeding commemorative anniversary issues will focus on Black accomplishments in business and politics, highlight the greatest sports figures over the past half century and gaze at the stars of stage and screen who've shined the brightest then and now.
In addition, celebrities are joining the festivities in the anniversary issues as several share "turning 50" with JET and others simply share their best wishes and treasured recollections of our big little book.
