NAACP TV Diversity Report

Jet, Nov 17, 2003

NAACP TV Diversity Report: Kweisi Mfume, president and CEO of the NAACP, holds a copy of the NAACP's 2003 TV Diversity Report at a press conference in Washington, D.C. The report found that while the four major TV networks have made increases in the hiring of Blacks for on-air television roles, similar progress has not been made behind the camera in the hiring and promotion of writers, producers, directors and executives.

Mfume said, "In the past year, there have been modest gains in the on-screen employment of African-Americans and others, but with some notable exceptions, these gains have been off-set by behind-the-scenes rosters that remain virtually frozen demographically."
