Muhammad Ali's Pennsylvania training camp on sale for $5 mil
Jet, Nov 18, 2002
Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali's Pennsylvania training camp that he worked out in is on the market with an asking price of $5 million.
The 5-acre parcel, 80 miles west of Philadelphia near Orwigsburg, PA, consists of a compound that includes the Ali family home, a gym, dining hall, cabins for sparring partners, a small mosque and a five-stall horse barn. Ali also had a separate home there where he lived while training.
The champ trained at the facility until his last fight against Trevor Berbick in 1981.
Ali sold the camp in 1997 to his longtime friend and training partner, former national karate champion George Dillman, for $115,000. The 18 buildings were renovated by Dillman and turned into a 73-bed inn called the Butterfly & Bee Bed and Breakfast--named for the now-famous saying "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."
The property still has a desk, dining tables and other furniture and memorabilia used by Ali.
