Jet, May 31, 2004
Country singer Charley Pride is expected to make a full recovery following his recent brain surgery.
Pride, 66, whose hits include All I Have to Offer You (Is Me) and Kiss an Angel Good Morning, was hospitalized for a subdural hematoma, a blood clot that occurs when blood from a torn vessel collects between the brain and the skull.
The singer had sought treatment after he experienced severe headaches, his manager, John Daines, said. Daines added that Pride was alert and awake when he visited him after the surgery.
"He wants to go back to work," Daines told the Associated Press.
Pride's nine-show, 12-day tour of Canada that was scheduled to start mid-May has been rescheduled for August. Pride, a Country Music Hall of Fame member, will take four to six weeks off to recover at his Dallas home.
