URBAN LEAGUE TRIBUTE: John W. Mack, president of the Los Angeles Urban League, presents the 28th Annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Award to Steven Bochco, famed TV producer of the series "Hill Street Blues" and "NYPD Blue," during the Whitney Young Award Dinner at the Century Plaza Hotel in L. A. Participating are KTLA anchor Larry McCormick, emcee, and actor Jimmy Smits who also received an award.
Versatile musician George Benson performed during the gala. The league saluted Bochco for "providing equal opportunities for African-Americans, Hispanics and other minorities and women in substantive roles, projecting positive role models on camera," said Mack.
