PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY: Tisha Campbell-Martin, a star of the ABC series "My Wife & Kids," holds the microphone for Noah Gray-Cabey during their visit to the Arts High School in Newark, NJ. Gray-Cabey, a 7-year-old piano prodigy who has a recurring role on the sitcom, and Campbell-Martin attended her former school where she was principal for a day.
Arts High School, which opened in 1931 as a school of art, music, drama, dance and television communications, was the first of its kind in the U.S. and almost immediately became the model for the High School of Art & Music in New York City. In addition to Campbell-Martin, esteemed alumni of the Arts High School include Sarah Vaughan, Wayne Shorter, Melba Moore, Savion Glover and Stephen Burrows.
