MICHIGAN HALL OF FAMER: Former Detroit Pistons Star Joe Dumars speaks at the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame's 49th annual induction ceremony at Ford Field in Detroit. Dumars, now the Pistons' president of basketball operations, was one of the seven people recently inducted into the Hall of Fame, including Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders, whose wife was there on his behalf.

Dumars, one of the most popular players in Pistons history, grew up in Louisiana, but now considers himself a Michiganian: "Michigan is home for me," he said. Days later he was awarded the NBA's executive of the year award. In addition to his all-star skills, Dumars is well known for his involvement with local charities, so much so that the NBA named its sportsmanship award after him.
