Caption: CATCH OF THE DAY: J.D. Greeley (1) and Clinton Boldridge hold a 144-pound spoonbill, also called a paddlefish, that Boldridge, a professional fisherman, caught near Dam No. 7 behind the National Guard Armory in Atchison, KS. The 6-foot-3 fish, which was wrestled to shore by Boldridge, his brother Bryan Boldridge and friend Michael Parsons, was certified as a state record by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. The previous record was 90.75 pounds. The fish initially weighed in at 139 pounds on a scale at the Atchison County Recycling Center. It later was certified at 144 pounds.
