Jack and Jill of America, Inc. recently held its 34th biennial national convention in Charlotte, NC.

The theme for this year's convention was Southern Roots: A Celebration of African-American Heritage.

Special guests at the event were Mrs. Jackie Thompson and her sextuplets, Stella Kimberly, Octavia Daniella, Emily Elizabeth, Anne Marie Amanda and Richard Linden. Thompson made headlines three years ago when she and her husband, Linden, became the first Blacks in the U.S. to have sextuplets though one child, Alison Nicole, was stillborn.

Jack and Jill's Village, a program dedicated to assisting parents in raising their children, committed itself to serve as the village to help to raise the sextuplets and established a trust fund with $25,000.

Three corporate sponsors in attendance, the Adam's Mark Hotel, Walt Disney World and Bank of America, each agreed to provide the family with transportation, hotel, food and tickets to Disney World for a week.
