Connie Payton puts home on market for $2.49 million

Connie Payton, the widow of Chicago Bears legend Walter Payton, is selling their South Barrington, IL, home for $2.49 million.
The approximately 11,000-square-foot home, is an 18room ranch situated on five acres in an exclusive suburb near Chicago.
The Paytons bought the waterfront property in 1985 for $150,000 and built the six bedroom house, which has four fireplaces, a tennis court and an indoor gun range, the Chicago Tribune reported.
"It's a hillside ranch with a full walk out lower level," listing agent Chuck Fiduccia of Starck & Co. in Schaumburg, IL, told the Chicago Tribune. "And with a beautiful pond in the back and a pond in the front, there's a nice view out of every window."
Mrs. Payton is looking for a smaller house in the Barrington area, since son Jarrett is away at school at the University of Miami and daughter Brittney win start her senior year of high school next year, Fiduccia said.
The Paytons married in 1976. Walter Payton died of liver cancer in Nov. 1999. Mrs. Payton serves as chair of the Walter Payton Cancer Fund, which rasies funds for research.
