AWARD-WINNING ARRIVAL: Superstar sister tennis players Serena and Venus Williams arrive at the recent Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on the French Riviera, where Serena was honored as Sportswoman of the Year. The 21-year-old champion holds all four Grand Slam titles and edged out U.S.

sprinter Marion Jones, British marathon runner Paula Radcliffe and Croatian world champion skier Janica Kostelic for the honor. The elegant Grimaldi Forum exploded with applause by her peers and fans as Serena was presented the award by her famous sister. The awards celebration annually honors the year's greatest sporting heroes selected by the Laureus Academy, which is comprised of more than 40 famed sportsmen and women, including basketball legend Michael Jordan and track stars Michael Johnson and Edwin Moses. Other honorees included Tour de France champion cyclist Lance Armstrong named Sportsman of the Year and Houston Rockets rookie Yao Ming as Newcomer of the Year.
