GIVING BACK: Dr. Sheila Crump Johnson (c), co-founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET) and chief executive officer of Salamander Development, LLC, receives an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole (r) and Stephanie Howard, instructor in the department of Visual and Performing Arts at Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, NC.

Johnson, a member of the $50 million Revitalizing Bennett Campaign committee, pledged $1 million to Bennett for its Department of Visual and Performing Arts. During the commencement Johnson said, "I have admired the work that Dr. Cole has done at Bennett. With this $1 million pledge, I want to support the college's revitalizing efforts."
