Helen F. Giles-Gee installed at Keene State College

Helen F. Giles-Gee, Ph.D., makes history as the first Black president of Keene State College in Keene, NH. She was recently installed as the liberal arts school's ninth president after serving in the post since her appointment in July 2005.

With more than 30 years of experience as a professor and administrator, Giles-Gee previously served as provost at Rowan University in New Jersey, dean of professional studies at the State University of New York at Cortland and associate vice chancellor for faculty affairs and director of articulation for the University System of Maryland.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Giles-Gee earned a bachelor's in psychobiology, a master's in science education and a doctorate in measurement, evaluation and techniques of experimental research. She also earned a master's in zoology from Rutgers University.

Keene State was founded in 1909 and has an enrollment of 5,200 students.
