Chicago's Big Hurt

CHICAGO'S BIG HURT: Chicago White Sox slugger Frank Thomas announces he will undergo a season-ending surgery after a second MRI revealed a triceps tear in his right arm. "This is the worst week of my life," Thomas said during the press conference in Chicago. "First I lose my father, then come back and find out I'm lost for the season." Thomas, a two-time American League MVP, has not played since he injured his triceps April 27 diving for a ball while playing first base.

He played 20 games this season. The designated hitter returned to take tests after he spent five days in Columbus, GA, following the death of his father. "Sometimes things in life can get worse," Thomas said. "I'll get over it. I'll get through it somehow, some way and be back and ready to play baseball next year."
