> Thelma B. Thompson, Ph.D., former vice president for academic affairs at Norfolk State University, was invested as the 13th chief executive officer of the 117-year-old University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD. Thompson, appointed in 2002, has pushed for accreditation for academic programs and has created a division for private support, resulting in more than $2 million in private gifts to the university.
