Aljaray Nails Jr., who became the first Black full-time police officer in the history of the state of Vermont in 1993, has been promoted to the rank of detective in the Burlington, VT, Police Department. As the state's first Black detective, Nails is assigned to general investigations with a wide range of cases, including homicide, sex, drug, financial and property crimes.
