Maurice Daniels promoted to dean of University of Georgia School of Social Work

Maurice C. Daniels was recently chosen as the dean of the University of Georgia School of Social Work. Daniels, a teacher, researcher and administrator in the school for 26 years and a noted scholar of the Civil Rights Movement in Georgia, will take on his new duties July 1 pending approval by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents.
Daniels, who has been associate dean since last August, has held several positions, including assistant to the dean of the Graduate School and director of the master of social work program. Daniels, who earned an M.S.W. degree and an Ed.D. degree at Indiana University, has received the social work school's outstanding research award and outstanding service award, as well as several service and achievement awards from the Black Faculty and Staff Organization.
