A. Barry Rand Named New Chairman And CEO Of Avis Rent A Car, Inc

A. Barry Rand, a former executive for Xerox Corporation, was recently appointed chairman and chief executive officer of Avis Rent A Car, Inc.
Rand, 55, was the highest-ranking Black executive at Xerox, and most recently served as executive vice president for worldwide operations at Xerox Corporation, and was responsible for managing $18 billion in revenues and 70,000 employees.
Martin L. Edelman, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board and former non-executive chairman for Avis Rent A Car, Inc., said: "Barry is an outstanding business leader in the truest sense, able to inspire people and create transforming, positive change in large-scale organizations. He has a breadth of experience that is seemingly tailored for Avis. Barry has a proven track record of building and growing a diverse set of multibillion-dollar businesses."
Rand said, "I'm extremely excited by Avis' prospects.... We will build on the outstanding heritage of the car rental business that has made Avis one of the most highly recognized brand names in America ..."
Rand graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., and received an MBA from Stanford University. He resides in Stamford, CT, with his wife, Donna, and their two children.
Avis annually generates more than $4 billion in total revenue and is the world's second-largest car rental system.
