Lewis Trial

Jet, June 14, 1999

Inez Ritch, mother of the late Reggie Lewis, who played for the Boston Celtics, sits with Lewis' widow, Donna Harris-Lewis, as they listen to Dr. Bruce Walker during his testimony in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston. Dr. Walker testified as an expert witness in the malpractice suit brought by Donna Harris-Lewis against three doctors who treated her late husband.

He said that with proper drug treatment and a pacemaker, Lewis may have been able to resume his career. Lewis, diagnosed with a benign fainting disorder rather than a potentially lethal heart condition, collapsed and died while he casually shot baskets at Brandeis University at age 27.
