The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) was recently awarded a $1 million gift from Hewlett-Packard Company as part of UNCF's Technology Enhancement Capital Campaign (TECC).

The $1 million gift from Hewlett-Packard will strengthen the technology capacities of UNCF colleges and universities by providing computers, servers and printers to member institutions. This award will provide unprecedented access to technology for minority students.

The presentation was made in The Robert W. Woodruff Library at the Atlanta University Center.

UNCF's Technology Enhancement Capital Campaign has invested more than $70 million during the past year to strengthen technology at 39 UNCF member institutions.

William H. Gray, III, president and CEO of UNCF, said: "We want to ensure that all students and faculty at historically Black colleges and universities are prepared for the globally competitive economy of the 21st century and have access to computers and technology."

UNCF's technology capital campaign aims to modernize the technology at UNCF institutions.

Bess Stephens, director, philanthropy and education, Hewlett-Packard, said: "Our support for UNCF is part of HP's broader efforts to promote diversity and bridge the digital divide through e-Inclusion, a vision of the future where all people have access to the social and economic opportunities of the digital age."
