Lou Rawls, Debbie Allen, Yolanda Adams and bishop T.D. Jakes host UNCF tv special, `an evening of stars'

Lou Rawls, Debbie Allen, Yolanda Adams and Bishop T.D. Jakes will host the annual "An Evening of Stars: A Celebration of Educational Excellence' for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). It is scheduled to air Jan. 5, 2002 (Check local listings for station, date and time).
The four-hour special will feature concert performances by Destiny's Child, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Donnie McClurkin, Lou Rawls, Yolanda Adams, Tyrese, Fred Hammond and Radical for Christ, Boyz II Men and Chante Moore.
William H. Gray, III, president and CEO of the United Negro College Fund, said of the annual fired-raising effort: "Through the assistance of UNCF celebrities, sponsors and supporters, in 2001, `An Evening of Stars' raised a record $13.7 million in cash and pledges. For every dollar UNCF collects in donations, more than 85 cents goes directly to supporting the college ambitions of needy young people."
Gray added, "Today, there are more than 60,000 students who depend on our support so that they can attend UNCF colleges and graduate schools."
The United Negro College Fund is the nation's oldest Black American higher education assistance organization.
