Never too late to graduate

Jet, Jan 17, 2005

Famed athlete Randall Cunningham, who spent 16 seasons in the NFL as a quarterback with Philadelphia, Minnesota, Baltimore and Dallas, stands with his fellow University of Nevada/Las Vegas (UNLV) graduates at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas during the recent winter commencement exercise. After two decades, Cunningham, 41, returned to UNLV to complete the necessary college credits to graduate and was awarded a degree in leisure studies.

Now a pastor living in the Las Vegas area, Cunningham retired from the NFL in 2002. He says the reason for the graduation delay was to focus on his career. "My main goal was to do the best I could in football. I really believed my football career was important. I always figured I could come back."
