Sean `Puffy' Combs And Kandi Burruss Named ASCAP Songwriters Of The Year

Rap star-Bad Boy CEO Sean "Puffy" Combs and singer Kandi Burruss recently shared Songwriter of the Year honors when the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP) hosted its 13th Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.
Combs was recognized for his tune Satisfy You, which features R. Kelly, and for two tunes he penned for Bad Boy recording artist Faith Evans, All Night Long and Love Like This.
Burruss, who first won fame as a member of the group Xscape, was recognized for penning TLC's No Scrubs, Destiny's Child's Bills, Bills, Bills and Sporty Thievz's No Pigeons.
EMI Music Publishing was named Publisher of the Year for its 17 award-winning tunes.
The event was hosted by Def Soul recording artists and award winners Montell Jordan and Kelly Price in the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center in New York. Also serving as hosts were ASCAP CEO John LoFrumento, ASCAP Executive Vice President, Membership Group Todd Brabec and the ASCAP membership staff.
ASCAP was founded in 1914 and is a membership association whose function is to protect the rights of its 100,000 composer, lyricist and music publisher members by licensing and collecting royalties for the public performance of their copyrighted works.
