CAVALIERS NEW COACH: John Lucas answers questions at a recent news conference at Gund Arena in Cleveland, which announced his new head-coaching position of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lucas, 47, has been an assistant in Denver for the past three years. He brings years of NBA coaching and playing experience to the job.

He played in the NBA for 13 seasons with six teams, and he was a coach with the San Antonio Spurs (1992-94) and Philadelphia 76ers (1994-96). Lucas, who has a combined record of 136-171, was also the general manager and director of basketball for the 76ers. Though the Cavs did not release the terms of Lucas' deal, it is reportedly for three years and worth between $8 and $9 million. Lucas didn't waste any time in his new job. He spent the first couple of days calling Cavaliers players--and warning them. "They've never seen anything like me," he said. "I've got an energy level that these guys have never seen before."
