Jet, Jan 24, 2005

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Willie T. Hulon was recently named assistant director for the Bureau's counterterrorism division by FBI Director Robert Mueller. He is the sixth person to hold the high-profile job since the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Hulon, a native of Memphis, has been a senior counterterrorism official since last April after a two-year stint as head of the FBI's field office in Detroit.

Hulon joined the FBI in 1983 and has worked in FBI offices in Mobile, AL; Chicago; San Antonio, TX; and St. Louis.

Since the FBI made counterterrorism its top priority following the Sept. 11 attacks, five others have served as head of the division. Two have retired and three others have moved to other FBI posts.
