Caption: ARETHA BEARS THE TORCH: The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin helped the Olympic torch make its way through Michigan, carrying it two-tenths of a mile and lighting a caldron at Comerica Park in Detroit. The Olympic Torch Relay is a 13,500-mile, 46-state run that ends on February 8 at the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. During the event the legendary singer sang Carry the Flame, the theme song she recorded for the 65-day torch relay.
