* SCHOMBURG GETS MALCOLM X PAPERS: Malaak Shabazz (l) and Attallah Shabazz, daughters of the late Malcolm X (whose photo appears at right) and Dr. Betty Shabazz, announce that a collection of the Black leader's diaries, photos, letters and other materials has been placed on long-term deposit at the New York Public Library's Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture to be available to researchers. "We don't mind sharing Malcolm. We're proud of Malcolm," said Attallah at the press conference. The collection includes documents once offered for sale by auction last March. When members of the Shabazz family became aware of the effort, they asserted their ownership rights and prevented the sale of their father's property.
