Rev. Wyatt Tee Walker recovering from stroke
Jet, Jan 27, 2003
The Reverend Wyatt Tee Walker, a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement who in recent years has collaborated with the Rev. Al Sharpton, recently suffered a stroke that has left him partially paralyzed on the left side of his body, according to his wife.
"He had a bleeding stroke of the brain, but he is in good spirits," Walker's wife, Theresa Ann Walker, told JET. "His mind is clear as a bell."
At JET press time the 74-year-old pastor of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem, NY, was expected to be transferred to a rehabilitation center for physical therapy.
Despite his paralysis Walker is still able to speak. His wife said, "Once able, I'm sure he'll try to return to the pulpit."
