Harvard's Artist of the Year

HARVARD ARTIST OF THE YEAR: Famed actor Blair Underwood is congratulated by Dr. S. Allen Counter, director of the Harvard Foundation, after he was named the 2002. Artist of the Year by the Harvard Foundation of Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. Underwood was honored for his outstanding contributions to American performing arts and his humanitarian efforts. "Blair Underwood is one of the most brilliant actors in Hollywood today," said Counter, who presented the award. "In addition to his outstanding work as an actor and director, he has advocated for persons with disabilities, and has supported parenting initiatives nationally. He is an excellent role model for our students of all backgrounds and he deserves Harvard's highest performing arts award."
