Jet, Jan 31, 2005

* JAZZ LEGEND SUPPORTS TSUNAMI VICTIMS: Famed jazz pianist Oscar Peterson performs at the Canada For Asia tsunami relief telethon in Toronto. Peterson was among the Canadian talent and broadcasters to come together to raise money for relief and long-term rebuilding efforts in Asia. The Montreal-born music great whose career has spanned more than five decades was honored last summer with the dedication of Oscar Peterson Place in the heart of the financial district in Toronto (JET, July 12, 2004).

Peterson received a Grammy Award in 1997 for lifetime achievement and an International Jazz Hall of Fame award.
