BEST COWBOY IN THE WEST: Fred Whitfield of Hockley, TX, ropes a calf during the tenth and final round of the recent calf-roping competition at the National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Whitfield won the World Calf Roping Championship and the All Around World Championship titles.
