Wesson, 50, will replace current Speaker Robert Hertzberg (2nd, r) (hugging Assemblywoman Carol Lui (r) and will be sworn in Feb. 6. Wesson, a Cleveland, OH., native, has been an assembly member since 1998. In addition to his legislative duties, he fulfilled a promise to his family in 1999 when he completed his bachelor of arts degree in history from Lincoln State University in Pennsylvania.
