Peoples, a veteran of housing and faith-based nonprofit organizations, was sworn in as assistant secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C. As head of the Fair Housing office, Peoples, who was nominated by President Bush, will lead efforts to ensure equal access to housing and increase minority home ownership.
