Caption: New ABA PRESIDENT: Former Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer, who is now the president-elect of the American Bar Association (ABA), is congratulated on his new position by Rachel Patrick, director, ABA Council on Racial & Ethnic Justice and Judge Arnette Hubbard of the Circuit Court of Cook County in Chicago and chairperson of the "A New Beginning" Celebration Committee, that planned the salute to Archer at the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago. Archer, who takes office in August 2003, is the first Black to serve as president of the association, which is the largest legal organization in the U.S. with a membership of more than 400,000 lawyers.
