Jet, Feb 7, 2005

The American Advertising Federation (AAF) in Washington, D.C., recently named Thomas J. Burrell, founder and chairman emeritus of Burrell Communications Group, as one of four executives to be inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame for 2005.

Burrell, a pioneering advertising leader whose Black-owned agency has shaped the world of multicultural marketing, will be officially inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame on March 15 at an awards luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria hotel New York City.

Other recipients of the prestigious award include Ted Turner of CNN and Turner Broadcasting System; Roger A. Enrico of Dream-Works Animation and PepsiCo; and Harry M. Jacobs of the Martin Agency.

A Chicago native and Roosevelt University grad, Burrell began his advertising career as a copywriter with Wade advertising. He started his own agency in 1971.

Burrell is a full-service marketing communications company with offices in Chicago and Atlanta and has been in business for more than 30 years.

To be inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame is the industry's highest honor for those who have raised the standard of advertising excellence.
