AALIYAH TOPS BRITISH MUSIC CHARTS: Late R&B singer Aaliyah recently topped the British music charts with a single released as a memorial after her death in a plane crash last summer. Aaliyah's song More Than A Woman held down the top spot in the UK, marking the first British No. 1 for the American singer and actress.
Last month the gorgeous singer was posthumously awarded two American Music Awards. She earned an honor for Favorite R&B Album for her self-titled current album and Favorite R&B Female Artist. The 22-year-old entertainer was one of nine people killed when a twin-engine Cessna in which she was flying crashed after takeoff while returning to Florida from the Bahamas (JET, Sept. 10, 2001). She would have turned 23 on Jan. 16.
