Tips for proper food refrigeration

Just because you place food in the refrigerator or stick it in the freezer doesn't mean that food will last forever. With the refrigerator set no higher than 40[degrees]F and the freezer at 0[degrees]F, the following storage tips will help to decrease your chances of becoming sick from harmful bacteria associated with spoiled food.

Freezer: 3 to 4
months

Fresh Chicken /
Turkey Parts
Refrigerator:
1 to 2 days
Freezer: 9 months

Fried Chicken
Refrigerator: 3 to 4 days
Freezer: 4 months

Raw Steak
Refrigerator: 3 to 5 days
Freezer: 6 to 12 months

Raw Bacon
Refrigerator: 7 days
Freezer: 1 month

Fresh Salmon / Catfish
Refrigerator: 1 to 2 days
Freezer: 2 to 3 months

Cooked Fish
Refrigerator: 3 to 4 days
Freezer: 4 to 6 months

Fresh Shrimp / Scallops /
Crawfish
Refrigerator: 1 to 2 days
Freezer: 3 to 6 months

Ham (Fully Cooked)
Refrigerator: 7 days
Freezer: 1 to 2 months

Cooked Meat
Refrigerator: 3 to 4 days
Freezer: 2 to 3 months

Soups & Stews
Refrigerator: 3 to 4 days

Lunch Meats

Mayonnaise
