Singer Vivian Green proves she has star status with new CD
Jet, August 11, 2003
Singer/songwriter Vivian Green steps out from the background and into the forefront with an impressive debut CD that proves she has what it takes to hang with the best.
A Love Story, Green's new CD, is an autobiographical tale that reveals a range of emotions from the point of view of a young woman who found true love and learned to love herself after having been in a negative relationship.
Green, 24, tells JET that she named the CD A Love Story, "Because that's exactly what it is. It's my love story about two different guys [and it covers] about three-in-a-half years of my life. I wear my heart on my sleeve."
Her first single Emotional Rollercoaster, a song about the ups and downs of an unhealthy union, has made the R&B songstress popular with music lovers everywhere.
One of Philadelphia's own, Green gave her first performance at the age of 5, started writing songs at 11, and got her first publishing credit at the age of 17 after co-writing the song Dear God (on the Evolution CD) for the group Boyz II Men. Before her solo career she toured for one year with fellow Philly artist Jill Scott as a backup singer.
Once an opening act for Maxwell, and Musiq, Green is now bringing in fans on her own credentials with her newfound star status.
The petite singer realizes that with fame comes a lot of hard work, and that's something she's no stranger to. She recently finished filming a scene in London for the movie Just One Of Those Things with Kevin Klein, which is still in production, and between tour dates she says she plans to shoot a video for Superwoman, the next release from her CD.
