Acclaimed attorney Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. and his wife, Dale, recently purchased the former home of American Express Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Chenault in Long Island, NY, for $1.4 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The report reveals the house was a direct sale between Cochran and Chenault.

The Cochrans' new home, which is located in a private area on Sag Harbor Bay, was purchased by Chenault for $265,000 in 1993, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Last March, Chenault, who was named chairman and CEO of American Express last year, bought a house further inland on 8.9 acres in nearby Noyac for $7.45 million, the newspaper reports.
