UNCF raises $13.8 million

Lou Rawls, Vivica A. Fox and gospel performer Dr. Bobby Jones, hosts of the United Negro College Fund's (UNCF) annual TV fund-raising gala "An Evening of Stars: A Celebration of Educational Excellence (AEOS)," announce that the TV special raised $13.8 million. Among the celebrities who delivered electrifying performances were India.Arie, Jill Scott, Luther Vandross, Donnie McClurkin, Gerald Levert, Angie Stone, Keith Sweat, Elton John and Usher.
William H. Gray HI, president and CEO of UNCF, said: "AEOS plays such a vital role in our mission because it raises awareness for the organization as a whole and gives the entire country a chance to see the results of their efforts to help bright students attend an institution of higher learning. I would like to thank our wonderful supporters, celebrity hosts, performers, corporate sponsors and television stations for making AEOS 2003 a wonderful success."
