Celebrity advocate

Jet, Feb 17, 2003

Judge Glenda Hatchett, the presiding judge of the nationally syndicated court TV show "Judge Hatchett," was recently named as the new celebrity advocate of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association (CASA), a non-profit organization of 60,000 citizens who volunteer to stand up for abused and neglected children in court.

Hatchett joined forces with the National CASA to help attract more volunteers to the organization who will help serve the children who need them most. "Child advocacy has been a way of life for me on and off the air," says Hatchett. "My role as a celebrity advocate is an honor and a privilege because it gives me one more way to serve young people who often can't stand up for themselves."
