Out of this world
Jet, Feb 23, 2004
Edward Tunstel Jr., a mobility engineer, briefs a reporter about the capability of the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity by using this full-scale working version at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. Spirit and Opportunity are currently on an $820 million double mission to find geologic evidence of water on the red planet.
The findings would support the possibility that ancient Mars may have had life. The rover shown is used to pretest all the activities that the Mars rovers are asked to perform.
