Counsel to probe alleged 'American Idol' affair with Paula Abdul
Jet, August 22, 2005
The producers of "American Idol" and Fox TV have hired an independent counsel to determine whether judge Paula Abdul had an affair with a contestant on the hit talent show.
At issue are allegations made by former "American Idol" contestant Corey Clark that Abdul advised him on what to sing and what to wear on the show during their alleged romantic relationship.
Corey was a contestant on the second season of "American Idol" in 2003.
Fox Entertainment President Peter Liguori refused to say if Abdul would be fired if the claims are true.
The probe's results are due soon and will be made public, Liguori said.
