GUILTY VERDICT: Bobby Cutts Jr. is handcuffed by a deputy sheriff in Stark County Common Pleas Court in Canton, OH, after the verdicts were read convicting him of the murder of his pregnant lover Jessie Davis and their unborn baby last June. Davis also was the mother of Cutts' 2-year-old son (JET, Sept. 10, 2007). A former police officer, Cutts originally denied knowledge of the murder and whereabouts of Davis as thousands searched for her. He later led authorities to the body in a park. Cutts testified in court that he accidentally killed Davis with an elbow to her neck as he was trying to leave her house and she tried to stop him. Prosecutors say Cutts strangled Davis over mounting child support. He faces a possible death sentence when jurors complete deliberations on the sentencing phase of the trial.
