Richard "Stick" Williams, vice president of diversity, ethics and compliance for Duke Energy Co., was elected the first Black chairman of the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill Board of Trustees. As chairman, Williams, a 1975 UNC graduate and UNC board member since 1999, plans to focus on meeting the university's goals for excellence in teaching, research and public service.
